"What the heck is that smell?" had become the normal conundrum I faced every time I opened the truck door. The once odd smell quickly grew rancid. And with the triple digit summertime temperatures, the sour stench was proving stronger than it had ever been, making me sick to my stomach every time I got behind the wheel. For the life of me, I could not figure out exactly what it was that had gone bad.
Is there anything in life, deep down beneath the seat of your soul that has shamefully been kept secret? Is there anything you have been trying to cover up? Are there any mistakes you have made that no one else knows about? Are there secret sins that you might be covering up and painfully dealing with all alone? Everyone understands that accidents happen. Mistakes are inevitable in life for those who are actively gleaning and growing forward.
Come to find out, chocolate milk had been spilled in my truck weeks prior, resulting in a putrid puddle of moldy milk. The unresolved slip-up developed into a baffling burden of odor. The sudden spill had been covered deep beneath the seat- shame. Masked mistakes lead to death and decay, both physically and spiritually. Similar situations require renewal from the inside out. Is there anything in your life that you can identify needs to be cleaned up?
"God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life." Psalm 51:10 (MSG)
The secret in life is not found in being perfect but by failing forward. Learning from the mistakes we make every day, and not repeating them moves us ahead with the Father's favor. If you are marked with misery because of past pitfalls, know that the Father cares for you and hates the thought of you suffering. He seeks to save you from your stinking situation.
He has your best interest at heart and lovingly longs for you to live a life of liberty to the fullest degree. We can all experience true peace within our soul by aligning our lives with His. You have the power to change the condition of your situation and circumstances simply by renewing your mind with God's timeless truth. Effectiveness derives from reviving and reestablishing a positive perspective in His presence.
Don't give the enemy a foothold by forfeiting your faith; refuse to surrender your peace and potential. The devil will try to tell you that you're disqualified and defeated but remember he is nothing but a liar. He will work overtime by using your past mistakes and mess-ups to defy you. Know God's got your back and is on your side. You can both recover and resume progress by believing who God supernaturally says you are and walking by faith in His extraordinary ability.
The road to renewal begins by connecting with God and allowing Him to make a fresh start within. Just cleaning up the surface of the stain, in my truck, would have only made my vehicle half clean. Similarly, it takes a deep cleanse to effectively eliminate the stains and prevent them from coming back. The Lord paves a fresh path free from guilt, shame, and the pain of your past failures and faults. Choose this day to be fashioned anew. Make it a great week by passionately plugging into God's powerful presence where we are given a clean slate and a spotless start. With the dawning of today His mercies are new. With His masterful touch, He regularly reshapes His beloved and favorably brings freshness to the contaminating chaos we continually come in contact with. Be encouraged to call on the Lord that you might be renewed, restored, and refreshed.
Together we can make it a great day!
